1. What is Claims Adjusting?
Claims Adjusting means adjusting an insurance claim. When a house, boat, auto, or commercial building is damaged, the owner calls in a claim to the insurance company. The insurance company uses trained claims adjusters to inspect and write an estimate of the damages.

2.
What do I do to earn my salary?  Can I really make over $1000 per day?
You call the insured, set up a field inspection, inspect the property, write up an estimate and submit the estimate to the insurance company. Most companies do everything online, so you do not have to print or mail any information  (homeowners are expecting your call, and are  happy to hear from you).  $1000 per day is a conservative amount for an adjuster! An efficient adjuster can make more than double that amount!  A lot of Claim Adjusters work hard for a few months and then take off for a few months.  Or you can work year round and make more money.

3.
What skills do I need to get into this line of work?  What if I cannot climb a ladder?
You need understanding of insurance policies, the ability to scope a property (Includes evaluation, measuring, photo documenting) and put the information on a computer program that we will teach you how to use.  Many people who cannot or do not want to do the field work can work as an internal adjuster, only work flood claims, or only do the computer data entry and still get paid a lot of money.

4.
Can I learn what I need to know in 8 days?
Absolutely! Our training program is specifically designed to teach you the knowledge and skill required to be an adjuster. We do not just get you licensed.  We give you the confidence to do an insurance claim from beginning to end.  We teach all the time saving secrets you need to succeed and give you priceless information and templates that are necessary in the field.  Our instructors are highly experienced and will make sure you pass this class. Of course, your skills will improve as you gain experience.

5.
Who do I work for?
As a Licensed Independent Adjuster, IA, you will work for Adjusting Firms. The Firms have contracts with insurance companies and will assign you jobs as they are submitted by the insurance companies. You can also work directly for the insurance company if you choose or you can become a Public Adjuster and work directly for the customer. There are numerous specialized jobs you can get with this license including home, auto, marine, flood, fire, and more. This is the best license to get with the most options available to you.

6.
How do I get the license after I take this course?
Send in the application along with our certificate of completion. The state of Texas will send you your license in the mail. We provide you with fool-proof directions to expedite the process. The Texas state license is the best single license to have. It has reciprocity on 44 states!

7.
How do I get a job after I complete the course?
Gem adjusters will give you a list of top ranking adjusting firms and insurance companies. You will place yourself on the rosters of these firms and we will recommend you to any firms that want good, trained, licensed adjusters when needed. The adjusting firms will call you when the storms hit.  You can also work directly for an insurance company as an internal staff adjuster.  You can also work as an Xactimate professional and just enter the information for the outside adjuster (it also pays very well).  You can travel the country alone or with your spouse or friend and be a “Storm Chaser”, which pays a lot of money!  There are so many different careers you can have with your All-Lines Adjuster License, just choose the one that fits your personality.  You can change it at any time without having to get another license.  After getting your feet wet on your first assignments, you will most likely develop a business relationship with one or 2 Adjusting Firms that you prefer to work for on a continual basis, but you have the choice of working as an IA for any adjusting firm you desire.

8.
How long does it take to get a job after I get my license?
If a storm or significant catastrophe hits any part of the nation, most adjusters are deployed immediately. Hurricane season is the best time for a newcomer to get their first job. Other times are during dry seasons when fires start, or the winter storms. If no storms hit, you can do daily claims for insurance companies. There are hundreds of claims every day made by people who have leaks, broken tiles, water damage, slip and fall, etc. After having at least one assignment under your belt, you will have an easier time picking and choosing your workload.

9.
What do I need to take this class?
No special skills required. You should have a laptop computer. Those that have either a little construction background or computer proficiency will have an edge in the beginning, but you will learn everything you need to get started when you take GEM’s course. We teach you how to do a claim from beginning to end so you have the confidence and knowledge to do the job right the 1st time.  Then experience builds as you tackle the jobs.

10.
How do I sign up?
Go to www.gemadjusters.com/schedule.html to pick your date and location, then click the "enroll now" button to Sign up. Classes fill up quickly, so sign up ahead of time to ensure a seat.

11.
What if we can’t attend all 8 days straight because of existing business or doctor appts?
By law, you must attend 90% of the 4 day pre-licensing class to obtain your license. The other 2 classes are for you benefit, with no attendance requirement, but you need to know this information to do the job. It is valuable information and as necessary to success as the Licensing class and attendance will pay for itself in dividends.
Option to split the class time: Sign up for the full package, then take the first 4 days.
This will put your license into effect. Then come back and just take the classes you missed and still get the discount. The 1st  class is 4 days, the 2nd and 3rd classes are 1 day, then 3 days, respectively.

12.
How much is it to get licensed and trained?  Is there any payment plan for making two or three payments?
Refer to www.gemadjusters.com/reserve.html for current pricing in your state. We do accept credit cards to sign up online now. We also have installment options - call our office to discuss. Cost includes 3 excellent manuals/field reference guides, the confidence to do the job immediately after taking the class, policy knowledge, the state exam, scoping knowledge, and the education to write up the reports on the computer so you can send it in and get paid!  You will recoup those costs in your 1st or 2nd day on the job!  Where else can you get a recession proof career for that low cost?  College is at least 4 years and $50,000, rarely allows such a large salary… and you are still not guaranteed a job with a 4 year college degree!

13.
I live out of state or far from your class, can you pick me up at the airport and get me a discount on hotel rates?
Yes, we have partnered with The Hilton Resort, Holiday Inn and various hotel and conference centers around the country.  Prices may vary depending on area and can change at any time.

14.
When is the next class scheduled?
See our course schedule at www.gemadjusters.com/schedule.html
We are continually adding courses in various locations.

15.
What are the licensing requirements to become an insurance claims adjuster?
There are no requirements with regards to experience. To work as an insurance claims adjuster, you need only hold an insurance adjuster license. To acquire an adjuster license, the state of Texas requires either:
a) the completion of the state exam, or
b) the completion of a certified insurance adjuster pre-licensing course such as ours. A certified adjuster pre-licensing course must include 40 hours of in-class study and the administration of an approved daily exam.
Since it realistically requires more time and cost to learn the information on your own, and the state exams are notoriously difficult, the most least expensive, quickest, and practical choice is to take our course. In addition, you will learn more to do the job better.

16.
What is a pre-licensing course? Will I get my adjuster's license at class?
The adjuster pre-licensing course fulfills all requirements needed to successfully apply for an adjuster license. It is simply a matter of filing the application (provided in our course) with the Texas Department of Insurance. No further testing or course work is necessary. Depending upon the volume of applications they process, you should expect your insurance adjuster license within 2-4 weeks.

17.
How can I check on the progress of my license application?
Once your license application is processed and approved, your name and license ID can be found on the Texas Department of Insurance website http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/. You can also email License@tdi.state.tx.us, or call them at (512) 322-3503.

18.
Which states do not require an adjuster's license?
To the best of our knowledge, the following states do not require an adjuster license to operate in their state:
Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Still, Insurance carriers will require that residents of these states hold a license before allowing them to delegate millions of dollars of insurance money to claimants on a weekly basis. The Texas state license is the most practical choice, since it is based on the national insurance standards and has reciprocity in 44 states. You will get a complete list of all states and their requirements during the training course.

19. Why didn't anyone tell me about this career earlier and what is the fastest way to sign up?
We get this question all the time and I asked myself the same thing. This career has always been kept low key. If you want to have the freedom to set your own destiny, then it's for you.
This job is not advertised in the classifieds. Most people do not know where to get the license or where to join the rosters of the hundreds of thousands of active adjusters.  It is such a rich source of income. For that reason, those within the industry are more inclined to only tell their friends and family. And because of this, there is actually a shortage of adjusters in the industry, specifically during seasons with bad weather. It becomes the last job most people ever need. Career adjusters are constantly retiring out of the profession (in wealth and luxury), so newcomers are always welcome!
We want to see you succeed and will go the extra mile to make sure you do!
Click "HERE" to sign up. We look forward to see you in class!

20. Are you registered with the BBB (Better business Bureau) or state as an accredited provider?
We are not registered with BBB, but we have a perfect record of no negative reports with them.
WE are registered with TDI (Texas Department of Insurance) as an accredited state provider. GEM Adjusters works in conjunction with TDI to license and train adjusters according to the rules dictated by the state statutes, and has undergone a strict regimen of compliance guidelines to be a top quality educational provider!
You can check online or call TDI to confirm our status with them. Our state provider number is #35356 and is the best identification reference for them to locate us in their system for you.
